Connectors developed to pair with midPoint, an Open Source Identity Access Management Solution
From the Desk of Jonathan Hutcherson:
To protect the innocent, I won’t reveal which university my daughter is attending, but when COVID hit, my daughter instantly became the default GoToMeeting instructor to many of her professors. This sudden reversal of roles helped me realize the importance of sharing capabilities across communities. The video/audio meeting software programs which have been part of our daily lives for years in the Digital and Technology agency business represented a brand new frontier for many in higher education.
Here at Exclamation Labs we are strong believers in giving back to the community, whether it's in our local geographic communities or within our digital communities. We are promoters of open-source software. The powerful benefits that come with using open-source platforms are compelling. We especially support the community like-mindedness to contribute to continuous improvement of software. Many minds wrapped around a common issue are so much more impactful than a few.
For the last several years we have been contributing to midPoint, an open-source identity access management solution by Evolveum, and helping higher education organizations implement midPoint at their institutions. When COVID-19 hit and forced nearly all businesses and universities to implement work-from-home and virtual learning policies, we recognized a need to develop connectors for some of the most popular virtual communication platforms.
We are pleased to announce that we have released three new, open-source connectors for the midPoint IAM community!
Available now on our Exclamation Labs GitHub Repository are connectors for GoToMeeting, Zoom.us, and WebEx. These full API connectors allow users to create and manage accounts for GoToMeeting, Zoom, and WebEx directly from within midPoint. Implementing these connectors in midPoint will not only speed up the provisioning process, but will also make it more secure.
Disclaimer: While we have developed the connector for Zoom as a communication tool, as a security-focused development agency, we personally do not use the Zoom platform. We are happy to provide the connector to those who need it, but we do advise you to use caution when deploying it due to the widespread security concerns that have been given massive media attention this year. We're happy to advise teams on which tools we recommend from a security standpoint at any time.
