When you’re interacting with Exclamation Labs, there is a good chance that you are unaware of the talent fueling your project. We work with some pretty spectacular people who are truly experts in their field. Take a few minutes to get to know them, personally and professionally, and see why these folks are our “special sauce” in the recipe for success.
Meet Erin, one of our Senior UX Designers!
Give us a quick overview: Tell us about your role at eLabs. How long have you been here, what roles have you played? What is your favorite thing about working at eLabs?
I am a Senior UX Designer and I’ve been with the company for 9 years. I started as a Jr Designer doing mostly UI work. Now, I am involved in strategic UX planning that helps drive business for our clients. I enjoy working in an environment where I’m encouraged to grow and evolve.
Brad Berline, the Team Lead for our designers had this to say about working with Erin:
Over Erin’s tenure at Exclamation Labs, I have had the opportunity to coach her and see her exponential growth. Not only has she honed her skills within her craft but she has also become adept at understanding and respecting client expectations while communicating thoughtful solutions.
Since we’re here in the “Lab,” time for an exam! No right or wrong answers, but it is rapid-fire. We'll call this "10 questions in 60 seconds." Tell us the first thing that comes to your mind:
1. What would you name the autobiography of your life?
Me: What Could Possibly Go Wrong? Anxiety: I’m Glad You Asked …
2. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I’d love to learn how to surf.
3. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time? Knitting! I picked up the hobby a few years ago. It’s so addictive.
4. If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?
We’ve been re-watching Game of Thrones, so right now I’d say Daenerys Targaryen. We’ll just leave out that part at the end of the series. ;)
5. What is something you learned in the last week?
My daughter loves to share nature facts with me, so I learned that polar bears aren’t actually white. (!?) Their skin is black and their hair is clear. Each hair has a hollow core which traps/reflects light making the bear appear white.
6. What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?
Camping in the summer, skiing in the winter.
7. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
I hate everything about folding laundry and putting it away. I’m pretty sure there are 4 baskets of clean laundry in my laundry room right now, and I’m pretending they don’t exist.
8. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
My grandmother. My dad’s mom passed before I was born, so I never got to meet her, but I heard so much about her and my oldest, Evelyn, is named after her.
9. What’s the coolest (or most important) trend you see today?
Accessible / inclusive design. It’s great to see other designers (including myself) become aware of and acknowledge their privilege, and learn to design with others in mind.
10. What would you most like to tell potential eLabs employees or customers?
The entire team at Exclamation Labs really cares about doing things the best way. They don’t just give you the solution they think you want, they take time to think through all the options and how that could affect your customers/business, and they don’t hesitate to offer up creative alternative solutions. I really enjoy working with people who put so much care and effort into what they do. You won’t regret teaming up with eLabs!
