Lab Partner: Aaron Staggs

When you’re interacting with Exclamation Labs, there is a good chance that you are unaware of the talent fueling your project. We work with some pretty spectacular people who are truly experts in their field. Take a few minutes to get to know them, personally and professionally, and see why these folks are our “special sauce” in the recipe for success.

This month we meet Aaron Staggs, our Lead QA Engineer.

With over seven years of work experience as a front-end developer, Aaron joined Exclamation Labs in 2015. It soon became clear that Aaron's strong technical skills and meticulous approach to work were a perfect fit for the QA team. He was recently promoted to Lead QA Engineer.

Aaron is a graduate of Frostburg State University with a master's degree in Applied Computer Science.

Brad Berline, Lead UX Designer, had this to say about Aaron:

"Even though the QA team is lean, we are highly productive. I am constantly impressed with the quality and volume of work that is accomplished. That is largely due to Aaron’s approach, experience, and methodical nature."
Aaron is pictured here receiving his 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo.

Now for the fun part! Get to know Aaron and see why we’re happy to have him on the team.

Since we’re here in the “Lab,” time for an exam! No right or wrong answers, but it is rapid-fire. We'll call this "10 questions in 60 seconds." Tell us the first thing that comes to your mind:

1. What would you name the autobiography of your life?

I Am Also NOT Spock

2. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

Speak and understand all languages. I'm really bad at anything but English. You could also play around and interpret this to include language-related things like programming languages.

3. When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?

With only 30 minutes, I might watch some videos. I like an odd mix of science, news, video game history, and relaxation videos.

4. If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?

Goku - so many powers, especially when the writing is inconsistent.

5. What is something you learned in the last week?

I take piano lessons, so I'm always learning to play a new song (poorly).

6. What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?

Indoor: probably playing video games - I prefer older offline games or new iterations of older franchises like the latest Mario or Zelda. I'm always at least a generation behind what is current.

Outdoor: I teach Taekwondo and like to practice outside.

7. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?

I have eight cats, so think about the cat litter! But, somehow, even worse is getting maintenance and contracting work done.

8. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

What about people not yet living? I'd like to meet someone from the future. That means I could visit the future, or at least have a conversation with the super AI that takes over the world.

9. What’s the coolest (or most important) trend you see today?

I think there is a growing movement to question things with both scientific and compassionate perspectives. Routines we follow may change in surprising ways.

10. What would you most like to tell potential eLabs employees or customers?

This is the most competent team I've worked with. Everyone really does care about getting each project complete and correct.
